How to Choose Your First ASIC Miner
Hashrate, efficiency, price -- what to prioritize when buying your first mining machine.
Efficiency is king
The most important metric is joules per terahash (J/TH). Lower is better. A machine that uses 15 J/TH will earn more per dollar of electricity than one using 25 J/TH, even if the less efficient model has higher raw hashrate.
Don't chase the cheapest unit
Older models might be cheaper upfront but their poor efficiency means higher electricity bills. Over a 12-month period, the extra hosting cost often exceeds the price difference. Buy the most efficient unit you can afford.
Check the brand
Stick with established manufacturers: Bitmain (Antminer) and MicroBT (Whatsminer). Both have proven track records, available spare parts, and firmware support. Avoid no-name machines.
Our recommendation
For beginners, the Antminer S21 offers the best balance of price, efficiency, and availability. For those with larger budgets, the S21 Pro or S21 XP Hyd. deliver industry-leading efficiency.
